May 31 - Jun 5

On Thursday Boeing received a $1.7 billion contract from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to research and develop the Next-Generation Air Transportation System. Boeing will be researching traffic management, commercial and military aircraft, general aviation, unmanned aerial systems, and rotorcraft. These contract awards are the largest in FAA history. With revenue increasing by 8% in the first quarter, and several new contracts Boeing is hiring a lot. In fact as of now Boeing has 400 open positions on their web site.

Google is well established and provides the worlds most popular search engine. But they are a company that is constantly striving for innovation on several different fronts. They now offer their own web-browser, email, and other features. Now two of their biggest developments is Google TV and the Chrome OS. Apple and many others are skeptical of Google TV and expect it to flop. As a big fan of Google and the open source movement I am excited to see what the Chrome OS has to offer. I have had the opinion for several years now "that the only bad thing about a PC is the OS, and the only good thing about a Mac is the OS." Microsoft's Windows is notorious for problems. Google has been using PC's with Window and their Chinese operations where hacked into. So Google is no longer allowing Windows on their employees computers. they allow the Mac OS, Linux, and the Chrome OS. I hope that this will help further the R&D. Google also is keeping up relations and satisfaction with customers and Apple has declared that the iPhone and iPad will continue to use Google as it's search engine rather than Microsoft's Bing.

Group Project.

This week we are continuing our research on Biofuels. I have been given the assingment to research cases where there has been nutrient pollution in water sources. And then what people are doing to fix the problem. As of now I have some cases in Utah and Idaho.
